Alex runs a blog called Open Source Unleased. A few weeks back Alex reached out to me and asked if I’d like to participate in an e-interview, something he’s done with a few other folks in the open source game. Here it is.

Reading the interview I realized Ferret is nothing but http://lucene.apache.org/ port for Ruby. Lucene is a very good piece of code (I have been playing with it for about 2+ yrs) and it is nice of Doug Cutting to make it open source.
I was surprised to see the benchmarks at http://ferret.davebalmain.com/trac/wiki/MyFirstBenchmark that indicates that Ferret is faster than Lucene when it comes to indexing but slower for search.
Anyway, good to know Coupa is using a good text searching library.
